Athena SWAN Inspiring People, Session 2

26/01/2022
2:00 pm

Online event via Zoom

Hear career stories from around the University of Edinburgh and beyond.

This second session in the series will focus on barriers and actions.

Debora Kayembe, the University of Edinburgh Rector, will discuss issues in tackling racism in academia. Debora is the University’s 54th Rector, elected in March 2021.

The Rector is a member of the University’s most powerful decision-making body, the University Court, playing a presiding role to ensure all voices are heard in making important decisions that affect students and staff. In recent times, Rectors have often seen their role as a point of contact for the University community, seeking to assist with difficulties or issues where they arise.

Dr Julie Jebsen, from the University of Wolverhampton, will also discuss her research on women’s successful career progression in STEM academia.
