Funding Sources for Companies and Researchers: May/June round-up

For Edinburgh BioQuarter tenants and residents, here is a quick round-up of funding sources and calls for May/June:

UK Research and Innovation strength in places fund: wave 2 EoI
Consortia of UK businesses and research organisations can apply for ‘seed corn’ funding of up to £50,000 to develop full applications for wave 2 of the UKRI Strength in Places Fund.

Competition opens: Monday 3 June 2019
Competition closes: Wednesday 9 October 2019 12:00pm

Artificial intelligence-supported early fracture diagnosis: SBRI competition
Organisations can apply for a share of £240,000, including VAT, to develop an innovative AI solution for radiological diagnosis of fractures of upper and/or lower limbs.

Innovate UK Smart Grants: April 2019
Opportunity to apply for a share of up to £25 million to deliver ambitious or disruptive R&D innovations with significant potential for impact on the UK economy.

SME support to evaluate innovative medical technologies: Round 4
SMEs can apply for a share of £1.5 million to support the evaluation of innovative medical devices, diagnostics and regulated digital health products.

Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund Digital Innovation Hub Programme: Hub Call
Infections and immunity, Molecular and cellular medicine, Population and systems medicine, Neurosciences and mental health, Translation, Methodology, Public health

£22 million is available for centres of excellence that will provide expert data services meeting the needs of industry, academic and NHS researchers and innovators. The programme is led by Health Data Research UK on behalf of UKRI as part of the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund.

A new mechanism for NHS consultants with a PhD or MD but who are not currently research active, to participate in collaborative high-quality research partnerships with established leading medical research groups.
