Creating a sense of place and belonging

Community Programmes

Our goal is to provide a welcoming place where people from neighbouring communities feel connected and want to come to Edinburgh BioQuarter.

We deliver a range of activities designed to strengthen BioQuarter’s links with those communities.

Our activities aim to bring families and organisations from neighbouring communities together with scientists, clinicians, students and businesses based onsite to create a sense of place and belonging.

Our Activities

Craigmillar Community Science Festival

The annual Craigmillar Community Science Festival was established in 2017 and is held on the last Friday in March in the run up to the Edinburgh International Science Festival.

Held in partnership with The Community Alliance Trust, The White House Kitchen Community Cafe and Craigmillar Library, the festival sees young people in the community demonstrating science to Festival-goers alongside scientists from BioQuarter.

BioRhythms Community Choir

BioRhythms – The Edinburgh BioQuarter Community Choir – is a choir for all staff, students, patients, carers and community members based at or around Edinburgh BioQuarter.

The aim of the choir is to increase general and mental health and wellbeing for all those on BioQuarter and in our neighbouring communities.
