Countdown to launch of Health Innovation District procurement opportunity
Edinburgh BioQuarter’s £1Bn (GDV) mixed-use Health Innovation District opportunity will launch in October 2021.
The chance to invest in one of Europe’s largest development opportunities in the life sciences sector comes at a time when the work of medical researchers and scientific innovators has never been more in focus.
The search is on to find a private sector organisation to form a public-private strategic joint venture, leading to the transformation of BioQuarter into a new vibrant mixed-use neighbourhood of Edinburgh centred on a world-leading health innovation ecosystem.
Speaking about the countdown to the launch of the PCR compliant procurement process, BioQuarter Interim Programme Director Anna Stamp, said:
“We are fully committed to offering this exciting development opportunity to the market and will go live with our procurement in October 2021. The pandemic dealt everyone a blow and resulted in our timeline being pushed back slightly however we are on track to launch later this year.
“Discoveries at BioQuarter over the past 20-years have made global impacts on medicine and healthcare and this is only the start. This is a fantastic opportunity to deliver what will be one of the largest Innovation Districts in the UK, and in a place which is already a leading location for health and wellbeing businesses to develop cutting edge therapies and technologies.
“We have been extremely impressed by the calibre of interest shown in our opportunity since we signalled our intentions to the market last year. The City of Edinburgh Council, Scottish Enterprise and the University of Edinburgh have bold aims to develop a sustainable destination for wellbeing, which delivers significant economic and social impacts for its neighbouring communities, the City and beyond.”
