MND-SMART, the pioneering new clinical drug trial from the Euan MacDonald Centre, has opened its first clinical trial centre for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in Edinburgh.

The first trial centre is at the Anne Rowling Regenerative Neurology Clinic, a charitable University of Edinburgh clinical research facility, and the first participants have begun to be enrolled.

The MND-SMART trial team are working hard with teams across the UK to open another 11 trial centres across Scotland and England in Aberdeen, Birmingham, Cambridge, Dundee, East London, Glasgow, Inverness, Irvine, Newcastle, Salford and Southampton.

The opening of these additional trial centres will be announced in coming months with more trial centres expected to be added to this list very soon.

Register Interest

The launch of MND-SMART was announced on 15th January 2020. Since then over 1000 people with MND have registered their interest in taking part and additional research teams across the UK have expressed their interest in becoming an MND-SMART trial centre.

The trial team at the Euan MacDonald Centre are incredibly grateful to everyone who has registered their interest in joining the trial and to the professionals who are working hard to open centres across the UK.

When a new trial centre opens, the local trial team contact people in the area who have signed up, to find out if they are still interested in participating.
