Maucher Jenkins, leading Anglo-German Intellectual Property company, are pleased to run a webinar in collaboration with Edinburgh BioQuarter on Wednesday 13 May from 9.30am – 11.00am which incorporates a Q&A after the seminar for individual questions.

The webinar will cover practical IP tips and guidance for companies, including advice on how to manage IP in the current situation. This seminar is targeted at early-stage start-ups, innovators, investors and service companies working in the healthcare and life sciences sector.

During the webinar IP experts will provide advice on how to manage and maintain IP in these current challenging times, including options for obtaining funding and deferring costs.  Guidance will be provided on how to consider the legal situation when moving into new areas of manufacture and when collaborating with others in the fight against COVID-19.

In addition, the speakers will discuss the options available for protecting diagnostic and therapeutic methods to assist companies moving into the diagnostics industry to provide testing facilities.

Speaker Profiles:

Dr Fiona Kellas, Partner

Fiona joined Maucher Jenkins in 2011 and has experience of drafting and prosecuting patent applications, preparing and filing design applications, carrying out IP audits as well as prior art and freedom to operate searching and assessment.

She enjoys meeting inventors, providing advice relating to patent filing strategies and drafting new patent applications to cover their ideas.

Fiona has worked in a wide range of technologies and has particular experience in the areas of biochemistry, antibody technology, in vitro diagnostics, synthetic biology and medical technologies and devices.

Reuben Jacob, Partner

Reuben joined Maucher Jenkins as a partner in 2003 as Head of the Life Sciences and Medtech sector and has a wealth of experience in advising clients operating in the fields of biotechnology, medtech, medical device patents and chemistry, including representing industrial clients, universities and research organisations.

His special interest is helping SMEs enhance their businesses by the creation of strategies for the acquisition, organisation and exploitation of their intellectual property rights.
